New Member Campaign Mailer

As part of my role at Illinois REALTORS®, I was tasked with redesigning the organization’s New Member Campaign Mailer—the first and only printed communication new members receive after registering as practicing REALTORS® in Illinois. Because this piece serves as many members’ first point of contact with the association, my design approach focused on creating something welcoming, high-quality, and memorable that would stand apart from typical advertising mail.

To achieve this, I proposed delivering the mailer in a clear plastic slip, ensuring the bold front panel—personalized with “Welcome to the REALTOR® family, FirstName LastName”—was highly visible upon arrival. This packaging not only elevated the sense of care and quality but also distinguished the mailer from standard bulk mail.

My second design goal was to create a piece that new members would want to display in their office, functioning both as a decorative element and a practical reference. To support this vision:

  • I introduced a vibrant color palette to make the design engaging and approachable.

  • I connected the three front-facing panels with a continuous illustrated landscape, adding personality and cohesion.

  • I simplified the poster side content to feature only essential daily reference points—quick links and the member’s personal ID for accessing resources.

The reverse side included secondary, one-time reference information, such as account setup instructions, links to podcasts and social media, and a rotating set of quotes from active Illinois REALTORS®. This variation added another layer of personalization and authenticity to the campaign.

The result was a mailer that balanced function and design impact—welcoming new members with a sense of belonging while providing them with valuable, easy-to-reference information.
