2022 Inaugural Gala Event Design
This project was the event design for the 2022 Inaugural Gala at Illinois REALTORS®, a black-tie event for over 300 attendees welcoming the incoming president. Designing this gala was part of my role each year, and this one stands out as a favorite.
Direction
The president being sworn in had a fun, eccentric personality and asked for vibrant colors. I used bold, abstract paint elements and an expressive typeface, while still keeping the overall look appropriate for a formal event. The goal was to find a balance between energy and sophistication.
After setting the initial look and feel, I applied the design across all event materials, including the program book, tickets, drink tickets, menu, table numbers, charity cards, flower sponsor cards, and presentation slides. I also worked with the event coordinator, who collaborated with the florist to help match the room décor. The final result felt cohesive and lively, with a vibe closer to a high-end art show than a traditional gala.
In addition to my design work, I created a charcoal portrait of the retiring president each year. Each portrait was presented as a private gift to the president after the gala.
